Moving to a new home is many things – exciting, challenging, stressful, busy, and chaotic. It may mean leaving a well loved home and neighborhood and moving to a new city or state, or it may be a “simple” move across town. Either way, moving to a new residence is an adventure. And, as an adventure, there are bound to be moments where being able to step back and take a deep breath will be important. One way to ensure moments for de-stressing is by working with a moving company that is focussed on helping your transition t a new location be as seamless as possible.
When you work with a moving company, you don’t have to stress out about having enough boxes, buying the right type of packing tape, using bubble wrap or any of the other elements that can make packing and relocating a challenge. You simply let them do the work.
Rather, you can ease into your new house and focus on turning it into a home. But perhaps you are wondering how can you make it easier on the moving company, and in turn, easier on you when getting settled in your new home? After all, chances are, you have some pieces that require extra TLC or maybe there are some items that aren’t really necessary in your new place.
If this is the case, then moving time is the perfect opportunity to do a bit of restructuring. Prior to the day the moving company will show, take some time to go through each room of your house and do a thorough deep purge. Get rid of any items that have not been used in the past year, identify those items that need special care in packaging and wrapping, and consider having a yard sale or making a trip to your local Goodwill or homeless shelter to drop off clothing or other items that may help someone else. Then, be sure you know where important items such as financial paperwork are stored, and will be packed. After all, you don’t want to be rummaging through things trying to find them later on!
Once you have done some basic prep work prior to moving day, you will be ready for the movers to show up. On that day, your jobs will be to focus on getting settled in your new space. And, because you have left all the truly heavy work to the moving company, you don’t have to deal with additional stresses such will all the boxes fit on your vehicle or how to get great grandma’s furniture safely loaded – that isn’t your problem!
